Eric joined ISDS as Director of Finance in 2017 and became Executive Director in 2020. Throughout his service in both roles, he has devoted his expertise, energy, and commitment to supporting the organization and the dentists it serves. His work has extended across financial stewardship, legislative advocacy, member engagement, and organizational governance, reflecting the breadth of responsibilities he has carried on behalf of ISDS.
As Executive Director, Eric has worked closely with the Board of Trustees, House of Delegates, 8th District Delegation, volunteer leaders, staff, component societies, and other partners to advance the Society’s priorities. We are grateful for the care and persistence he has brought to this work and for his commitment to keeping members’ needs at the center of the Society’s efforts.
Eric’s decision to leave reflects his desire to pursue a professional path that better supports the needs of his family and allows for greater balance between his professional and personal responsibilities. He looks forward to continuing his career in organized dentistry while returning to his roots in accounting and finance. We respect his decision and thank him for the time and dedication he has given to ISDS.
Following Eric’s departure, Tara Conway, ISDS Director of Administration, will serve as Interim Executive Director. Tara will work closely with ISDS leadership and staff to support a smooth transition and maintain continuity in the Society’s operations.
A search committee is being formed to identify the next great leader for ISDS. The search will focus on finding an Executive Director who will build on the Society’s strengths, advance its priorities, and support the evolving needs of our members. Additional information regarding the search and leadership transition will be shared as it becomes available.
Please join us in thanking Eric for his leadership and service, wishing him and his family the very best in this next chapter, and supporting Tara as she assumes this interim leadership role.
Sincerely,
Douglas Chang, DDS
President
